Our Story / Nuestra Historia

El Fogón Colombian cuisine was born with the purpose of our family to show our gastronomy in Saint Louis. We felt the need to create a simple but also delightful menu that offers a variety of dishes to our customers. Festivals around Saint Louis have been our principal spots to deliver our traditional food menu with special Colombian ingredients such as corn and cheese.

We started in 2017 offering to our customers our traditional Colombian food through different festivals around Saint Louis and now we have opened our restaurant in Brentwood for our beloved customers in St. Louis.

The history of Colombian cuisine is a unique blend of indigenous and European traditions with a strong Afro-Caribbean influence, from within the six main regions of the country, (Pacific, Amazonian, Andean, Orinoco, Caribbean, and Insular). The two largest indigenous groups prior to European conquest were the Tairona, who lived along the Caribbean coast, and the Muisca, who lived in the highlands to the South. Arepas, made from ground corn, are one of the oldest cooked dishes in Colombian cuisine. It is believed that the name derives from the word for corn in the Chibcha languages. Furthermore, being one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, Colombia has one of the widest variety of available ingredients depending on the region. Source: Wikipedia
